August 22, 2008 - Final License Application (FLA) for Enloe Dam Project Submitted - The PUD submitted the Final License Application for the Enloe Dam Hydroelectric Facility to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. There will be hard copies available for public viewing at the Oroville, Tonasket, Omak, Okanogan, and Twisp public libraries. The FLA has 4 volumes. Volume 1, 2, and 3 are available to the public, with volume 4 containing Critical Energy Infrastructure Information which contains protected information and is not available for public viewing. There will also be a hard copy available for viewing upon request at the Okanogan PUD Office. In addition, a limited number of electronic copies on CD are available upon request. August 18, 2008 - Conditional Use Permit Approved - Okanogan Public Utility District's Gold Creek substation Conditional Use Permit application was unanimously approved by the Okanogan County Board of Adjustment! The Gold Creek substation is an integral component of the Pateros-Twisp transmission line and the selected method of improving distribution capacity, reliability and line losses in the Methow Valley. This permit is the first of many the PUD will obtain in order to move forward with construction of the Pateros-Twisp transmission line and Gold Creek substation.

May 5, 2008 - Similkameen River Appraisal Level Study Consultants Sought - The Public Utility District No. 1 of Okanogan County are requesting Statements of Qualifications from interested Consultants for an appraisal level study of the Similkameen River as a potential site for water storage, and power generation facility, in Okanogan County, Washington. Firms interested in providing consulting services for this work shall submit a letter of interest, including resumes of the key people that will be involved on the project.  All work shall be in accordance with all the applicable laws, regulations, and applicable agency guidelines. April 10, 2008 - URGENT - PUBLIC ALERT - Okanogan County PUD has been notified that a PUD customer received a call stating their power would be disconnected at 6:00 p.m. as a result of an NSF check.  The customer was given the option of using a credit card in order to keep their power on and avoid incurring additional fees. PLEASE BE AWARE the caller was NOT an Okanogan County PUD employee.  Okanogan PUD does not accept credit card payments at this time.  If you receive a similar call, DO NOT provide any information to the caller.  Okanogan PUD urges you to contact the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office at (509) 422-7232 immediately and report the call to their fraud investigators. November 26, 2007 - Okanogan - Okanogan County PUD to Hold Two Enloe Dam Public Meetings.  The PUD has scheduled two public meetings during the 90-day comment period of the Draft License Application. The first meeting will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2008 from 6:30-8:00 PM at the Depot, 1210 Ironwood Street, in Oroville. The second meeting will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2008 from 5:00-6:30 PM at the Okanogan County Commissioner's Hearing Room, 123 5th Ave. N., in Okanogan.  For more information on Enloe Dam read the latest Fact Sheet here.

November 7, 2007 - Okanogan - Okanogan County PUD Releases Draft License Application (DLA) for Enloe Dam. Please see transmittal letter that accompanies the DLA here.  In accordance with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulations and procedures, a 90 day review of the document started November 7, 2007. The DLA was mailed to all stakeholders and interested parties in electronic (PDF) format contained on a CD.  Hard copies will be available for viewing at the Oroville and Okanogan PUD offices and at the Oroville, Tonasket, Omak and Okanogan Public Libraries.  The DLA is also available for viewing and download here.  Hard copies of the document can be ordered through the PUD at cost.

October 30, 2007 - Okanogan - The November 14, 2007 special meeting of the Board of Commissioners of Public Utility District No. 1 of Okanogan County has been canceled.

October 9, 2007 - Okanogan - PATEROS PAY STATION TO CLOSE - Effective November 30, 2007, the PUD’s pay station at the Pateros City Hall will be closed. Payments can be mailed to the PUD using the envelopes included with your statements, or pay in person at any of the District’s offices.  The nearest PUD branch office in your area is located at 101 South Bridge Street in Brewster. October 2, 2007 - OKANOGAN John Grubich Named as Okanogan County PUD General Manager.   Okanogan County Public Utility District Commissioners today named John Grubich of Fairbanks, Alaska as their choice for General Manager.

Grubich, who holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Gonzaga University School of Law, as well as a Masters in Business Administration, has extensive experience in the electric utility industry.  Most recently, he was the Chief Financial Officer of Golden Valley Electric Association in Fairbanks.

Starting his career in his home town of Wenatchee with Chelan County PUD, Grubich has a strong personal commitment to public power.  Although he has had a high degree of success and visited many places, Grubich stated that it was his fondest desire to return to the Pacific Northwest.

Grubich and his wife Gail, a nurse practitioner, have two grown children.

He is expected to start around the first part of November.

Okanogan County PUD Commissioners are pleased to welcome John and Gail and feel they will both be of great benefit to our county.

May 15, 2007 - Preliminary Permit Application submitted to Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.

Public Utility District No. 1 of Okanogan County is submitting a Preliminary Permit Application to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for a water storage and hydroelectric project located on the Similkameen River in Okanogan County, Washington. The Dam and associated facilities would be located upstream of Enloe Dam at approximately river mile 7.3 in what is commonly referred to as Shankers Bend. Read full Press Release here.
