July 12, 2010 - Electric Rates Adjusted as of July 1, 2010 - At the May 4th Board of Commissioners meeting, electric rates were adjusted per Resolution #1506. The Board action culminates a process which started during 2008. The process included a Cost of Service Study, Equity Management Plan and Rate Study. Reports memorializing each phase can be viewed at www.okanoganpud.org/ratestudy.htm. During the Rate Study phase the goal was to develop rates that promote revenue stability, equitable among classes of customers, easy to understand and promote efficient use of electricity. The Board of Commissioners, District staff and consultants, with RW Beck, met on a regular basis over the last several years developing the framework for rates that were adopted. Prior to adoption of the new rates the Board and staff held three town hall meetings in various locations within the District. The District's rates can be viewed at www.okanoganpud.org/Rates.htm.

June 29, 2009 - PUD No. 1 of Okanogan County Switches to Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) - Beginning in July of 2009, PUD No. 1 of Okanogan County will begin changing out meters in the Ophir/Brewster area, then move to the Methow Valley, Pateros and progress north up the Okanogan Valley ending up in Oroville in late 2010. AMI, a technology originally called "AMR" or Automated Meter Reading, uses existing power lines to communicate meter readings, voltage and outage information to the PUD's substations. PUD customers will be notified in advance of their meter being changed using a variety of methods such as the local newspapers, radio, the PUD's web page, newsletters and direct mailings.
