Signing Up For a New Service

Welcome to the Okanogan County Public Utility District No. 1 service area.  If you are interested in getting electrical service to a new location, here is some of the information you may need to get started.

Step 1:  Stop in or call your area PUD office
to talk to an engineer about the feasibility of your project.  Installing new electrical service to your project is a joint effort between you and the PUD.
Find your area office...

Step 2:  Define your responsibilities.
The PUD is responsible for design and installation of all required primary and secondary service lines, providing and installing the transformer and meter.  The customer is responsible for determining if they want overhead or underground service, providing and installing the meter socket and obtaining a State Electrical permit and inspection.

Step 3:  Gather your Information.
The PUD Engineer will ask you to provide the following information so they are better able to assist you with your project:

  • Where the building or service point will be located on the property,

  • What the service is to be used for, (house, mobile home, shop, etc.)

  • Size of the building,

  • Type of service preferred - overhead or underground,

  • Amperage rating of main service panel or disconnect, and

  • Type of heat and if heat pump will be used

Congratulations!
You are now ready to set an appointment with your Engineer to begin preparation of a cost estimate for your project.
