Fiber Optics

Okanogan PUD built a fiber optic network backbone to provide a wide variety of data services for the District and our community. This backbone stretches from the Columbia River junction in Brewster to the Canadian border.  Fiber optics is a transmission medium with a bandwidth so great that we can install it and be confident that ten or twenty years from now it will still surpass our needs for information carrier systems.  No other medium has the information carrying capacity coupled with such a long, reliable life span.   For these reasons, fiber is the transmission medium of choice, now and for the foreseeable future.
